This website has been neglected for the past year.
Why? Well, I’d like to blame it on my work as a teacher at the Xi’an International Studies University. A lot of my time was spent scrambling to put together lesson plans for my classes. And I suppose that was a part of the equation.
I have also not trained much at all for the past year. A couple times in October. Then again at Wushu West at the end of May. And once in Beijing at Shi Cha Hai last month. I did some running at the track and a bit of Taiji with Ruhi in the fall. But besides that I’ve been out of the wushu picture.
But those aren’t really good reasons for neglecting the website. They’re reasons. Just not very good ones.
But don’t think that I haven’t been thinking a lot about wushuzilla.com. In fact, I think about it all the time. I’ve even been working (or rather, I’ve hired an intern to work on) the China Wushu Training Guidebook. A first version is just about ready to be published — assuming I have the time to do so.
Anyway, this is starting to sound like a whine session. What I really wanted to say (as is evidenced in the title) is that I’m anxious to get things going on wushuzilla.com again. I have content to post, videos to upload to youtube, and pictures to share. I’m starting a new job in the fall which will allow me some time to train again and me thinks it will also allow me some time to get things grooving here on wushuzilla.com.
But I keep waffling about what I should focus on with this website. Should it be strictly about wushu? Should it be only about videos? Or should it share some other things about my life in China and my various thoughts about other topics? Should it be a whole lot of things or a specialization on a few things? All things to think about as I move forward with my plans for a revamp.
Your feedback would be appreciated, although I suppose that, in the end, the decision will be my own to make. Since this really is an extension of my passion for and interest in wushu.
Time to get back in to the swing of things…

Hey Sebastian, Welcome to Xi’an! Please send me an e-mail or message when you are in town and have a phone number. It would be great to meet up. Unfortunately you will be on the opposite side of the city from me (and from the Shaanxi Wushu Team), although I heard there is a youth wushu school over in your neck of the woods somewhere. I’ll have to ask someone about that as I’ve never been there myself. Definitely keep in touch! – Mark
